On Saturday night I took my friend Stephanie to Ricardo's, about a block away from Saint Martin's. It was a pretty nice place, very small but wasn’t too small. There was a bottle of wine on our table from 1808, probably extremely expensive. I got one of the cheapest things on the menu and so did my date, about fifteen dollars each. I got the Alfredo Russo, which was a plate of noodles with alfredo sauce, sliced mushrooms, and pieces of sausage. The food was very good, I couldn’t finish the whole plate though, partly because I filled up on the free bread before my actual meal came. Overall, including the five dollar tip, I spent forty bucks on the meal, and that was without getting anything to drink, besides water which is free.
One issue that this meal brings up is the price. It probably cost the restaurant a couple dollars to make our meal, but they charge so much for it. I could have gone to the store, bought all the ingredients, and made the same meal for about ten dollars. The portions of the meals were also a little large, I felt like I was wasting my money because I couldn’t finish all of it. I would have felt better about it if it was a smaller portion and I finished the whole thing, that way it wasn’t wasted. I also like how it was a smaller restaurant. I paid them a good amount for good quality food that isn't made by a large corporation, it’s a small restaurant, and that’s part of what adds to the experience.
Sorry, the picture of the food is kind of dark and hard to see, it was dark in the restaurant for mood lighting, which made it difficult to get a good picture.
It sound pretty expensive for 2 people! But I guess thats the price of going to a better restaurant and having a better serving!
ReplyDeleteThe food quantity is always big in the restaurants so they always waste a lot of food!
Although the price of the food seemed a little high, the picture from what I can see looks very delicious. I am going to go check this place out, but I will make sure that I do not bring a date with me.
